Useful Tip: You can type in a question or just query GeislerAnswers by keyword, e.g., "primary sources" or "media center"

For whom is your library named?

Lots of library sites have an "About Us" link that will provide information on the history of their library. Does your library have one? If so, I'm having trouble finding it...

You are not overlooking a link that would give you that information, but I am happy to answer your question!

Geisler Library was named in honor of John Edward Geisler and Gertrude Setzer Geisler of Newton, IA by their children Harold and Mavis Geisler and Loren and Cecil Penquite. The library opened in 1974 and at that time was known formally as Geisler Learning Resource Center.

I hope this is useful information. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

Thank you for using our Ask Us! service.
